Quilt History South

We've got a Facebook group called QuiltHistorySouth with hundreds of members, many of whom post great information and great photos. It's quite a success and we are enjoying the interaction while discussing the topic of Southern quilt styles.

However, the group format makes for a rather chaotic presentation of information. Many good observations, facts and photos get lost in the comments thread. It's hard to search etc.

So we are going to distill the information by topic here in a blog.  The good things about a blog are that it is easy to find a post in a Google or other internet search; the information stays in the cloud (at least for the foreseeable future) and there is room for both pictures and a lengthy discussion.

Mount Vernon.

Posts will summarize our discussion on one topic, say a pattern or a fabric or a style. We'll consider Southern quilts from 1780 to 1980---200 years.

Barbara Brackman is the major post writer but if you want to write posts just let her know at MaterialCult@gmail.com.

Join our Facebook group. It's private but we'll let you in if you ask.
